Paper embossing is the extension and development of concave convex embossing. The traditional embossing process is to use mechanical embossing or wrinkling on the paper to form a small concave convex pattern on its surface, which can increase the aesthetic feeling and decorative art effect of the product and improve the product grade. Paper embossing is widely used in book binding paper, business card paper, wall calendar, desk calendar paper, napkin paper, toilet paper, color box face paper and other types of paper.

1. Principle of embossing

The working principle of embossing is shown in Figure 10-5. Its basic structure is two pressure rollers. Generally, the upper pressure roller is a steel roller with embossing patterns carved on its surface, and the lower pressure roller is a steel roller coated with soft wool paper or rubber. The paper passes between the two rollers and is embossed into grains under the pressure of the two rollers. The soft surface of the lower roll guarantees the perfect reproduction of the fine texture of the paper surface. Due to the deep texture of the embossed paper, only one side of the paper is usually embossed.

The embossing machine is an important equipment for printing, paper products, plastics and leather surface finishing. It is suitable for embossing the web materials of all kinds of paper and plastic products. It can produce all kinds of beautiful patterns. It has the functions of automatic hydraulic lifting, automatic heating and cooling, variable frequency speed regulation, automatic tension control, automatic integrated oil pressure control, etc. The embossing speed is 5-60m/min.
